Clinical Experience
Project Leader, Low Cost Peritoneal Dialysis Diet: August 2013-December 2013
Visited the Champaign-Urbana Dialysis clinic and was taught all of the dietary requirements for patients and learned the job functions of dialysis dietitians. I took this information and I along with six other students made a 28 day menu that cost less then $7.00 per day. I have visited the clinic three times now and learned a lot about the different dietary requirements and other factors that effect dialysis patients. These meals will be made into a cookbook and presented to the dietitians as a free resource they can offer to their patients to help them meet their dietary requirements.

Reviewed patient diet prescriptions and compared requirements to recorded food intakes to check for compliance. Met with patients and informed them of their diets and offered suggestions for foods that could be ordered through room service meeting diet requirements. I notified the head dietitian when further nutrition education was needed. I also helped feed movement limited patients and nursing home patients.
