Summer Food Monitor and WIC Farmers Market Staff, Champaign-Urbana Public Health District: Summer 2013
Above is picture of me selling vegetable plants to community members. This was part of the give back garden to offer low or free fruits and vegetables to the community. View my photo on CUPHD Facebook Page: here.
· I managed employees, paperwork and product needs at four sites offering 6,000 meals total per month. This included training, monitoring, and evaluating 40 staff members based on the USDA Summer Food guidelines. In addition I created meal plans, documents, budgets, signs and training materials based on required guidelines. When time allowed I shadowed WIC Nutritionists and helped input 10 patients data into digital medical records.

The room service based food service program taught me the importance of patient choice for diet compliance and satisfaction. I participated in the tray line, surveyed patients for satisfaction, completed daily tray assessment for quality and safety, and assessed long term changes in quality and worker productivity. The hospital also had robotic tray carts to return meals trays for cleaning. I would help load the robot carts on the patient floors and send it down for cleaning.
